Teaching for Transformation

Teaching for Transformation (TfT) is a framework for integrating faith and learning that helps bring Mankato Christian Academy's vision to life in the classroom. It empowers students to understand and recognize God's story through specific core practices. Classroom activities and instruction focus on curriculum content through the lens of Holy Scripture and Godly practice. Mankato Christian Academy invests in multiple days of professional development each year to enhance our teachers' use of TfT.

Core Practices

Teachers develop a "Deep Hope & Storyline" to engage students and reveal deeper connections within the subject matter within and across disciplines.
Curriculum is aligned with Mankato Christian Academy's Throughlines.
Teachers design Formational Learning Experiences (FLEx) that encourage students to take action based on their learning in order to do “real work that meets the real needs of real people.”

Throughlines

Throughlines are key discipleship habits and practices that shape students and inspire them to transform the world around them for God. They help students, teachers, and parents understand what it means to be a disciple in God's story and provide a vision for how Mankato Christian Academy graduates will live.

MCA Throughlines

Redeemed by God

Students trust that God sent His only Son, Jesus Christ, to make full satisfaction for their sins by living a perfect life, dying on the cross, and rising from the dead. Our hope is that students deepen their faith in Jesus as Savior unto eternal life in heaven.

Idolatry Discerning

Students seek truth by aligning their learning with the knowledge and person of Jesus Christ.

Beauty Creating

Students engage in creative work that enriches the world and reflects what is good, true, and beautiful.

Order Discovering

Students marvel at the evidence of God’s fingerprints in the intricate, purposeful design of creation.

Justice Seeking

Students practice justice by treating others with rightness and fairness as they trust God to bring about wholeness where there is brokenness.

Stewards of Creation

Students participate in creation care by preserving, cultivating, and enjoying the world God has entrusted them to steward.

Servant Living

Students follow the example of Jesus’ selfless love by exercising kindness, empathy, and compassion for their neighbor, knowing that God blesses others through their work.

Image Bearing

Students recognize that all people are beautifully and wonderfully made in the image of God. Though perfection before God was lost in the fall into sin, believers are restored through Christ Jesus.
